Tony Pedregon took his Nitrofish Impala to Englishtown this past weekend and qualified for his eighth straight race to start the season. He achieved the run that guaranteed his appearance in the show on the first day of qualifying for the NHRA Supernationals. Tony and the Nitrofish Impala flew down the track with an ET of 4.169, which was good enough at that time for position number 9. However, after two more qualifying rounds Tony Pedregon and the Nitrofish team ended up being 14th overall. Their task for the first round was Tim Wilkerson.
On Sunday, Wilkerson elected to be the first pair down the track. That did not bother the driver of the Nitrofish Impala, Tony Pedregon. He had the second fastest reaction time for the whole first round. However, a few moments after that awesome reaction time, the Nitrofish Impala’s tires spun leading to victory for Wilkerson. Following the completion of the race, Tony was able to maintain his 13th place point standing less than two rounds out of the top 12.
“Although we got beat in the first round, there is no question that we only have one more issue to fix. That is our application,” Tony Pedregon, the two-time NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car champion states. “We have begun to produce more power in the engine, which will help us qualify better starting next week in Bristol. Once we qualify better, we can race better.”
After a weekend off, Tony will again take the Nitrofish Impala to the legendary Thunder Valley in Bristol, Tennessee for the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers.
